    Haha yes.

  • The first Thanksgiving happened after the third summer of Plymouth colony. For the first two years, the Pilgrims abided by the Mayflower Compact, which called for strict socialism. As a result, they didn’t grow nearly enough food, and starvation killed half the population each winter.

The third spring, they allocated a plot of land to each family to work for their own benefit. That fall, despite a minor drought, they enjoyed a bountiful harvest. There was more than enough food for everyone. So they held a celebration of thanks giving to God for the harvest, and for teaching them the evils of socialism.

What is your source ? From what I can read online, it seems that only the first winter was deadly, after which they had that first Thanksgiving with all the food you’re talking about. Or am I missing something ?

      • Good question. You’re missing the actual history. (((Google))) won’t show those results unless you go deep. It helps to have access to paper sources from more than 30 years ago. Gee, I wonder why libraries have been purging the old books?

The first winter was quite deadly, mostly because they departed a lot later in the year than intended (massive screw ups plus politics) and they’d never experienced cold quite like that. England is much warmer than New England.

        • Okk

Thanks for your answer. Makes sense for that first winter in America, and that’s actually data that can be found online, so I guess everyone kind of agrees on that part.

What about the two years you’re talking about, though ? Are you saying that the first Thanksgiving took place in 1623, and not in 1621 as stated by most sources ? What paper sources are you talking about ?

I’m just trying to understand where you’re coming from exactly, as, like you said, Internet doesn’t exactly provide me with the elements you’re stating in your first comment. They look interesting, but I can’t just take a lone Internet comment as fact; I’m sure you can understand that.

Here is a better consideration on “socialism”.
I now found that in the social democratic daily papers I could study the inner character of this politico-philosophic system much better than in all their theoretical literature.
For there was a striking discrepancy between the two.
In the literary effusions which dealt with the theory of Social Democracy there was a display of high-sounding phraseology about liberty and human dignity and beauty, all promulgated with an air of profound wisdom and serene prophetic assurance; a meticulously-woven glitter of words to dazzle and mislead the reader.
On the other hand, the daily Press inculcated this new doctrine of human redemption in the most brutal fashion. No means were too base, provided they could be exploited in the campaign of slander.”

“The theoretical literature was intended for the simpletons of the soi-disant intellectuals belonging to the middle and, naturally, the upper classes. The newspaper propaganda was intended for the masses.”

The string pullers does not follow whatever ideological angles they currently push to advance their agenda, these are just baits for the ignorant and naive.
Those angles are akin to the colors of a hook-nosed chameleon, when needed, they can shift from green to pink to red to black and yellow. Whatever is convenient.

Rush Limbaugh stated something similar years back, forgot if he was the first one with that interpretation or not.
The comment itself is an interesting study of the boomer mindset. That is, unable to understand what sort of situation the pilgrims were in and what means where available in the late 1610s.

    • TheLulzWarrior

      “It wuz sosaeesm!”
      > Boomers are unable to realize that establishing a new settlement in the wilderness would take years.

    • Hmmm

Where in the Mayflower Compact does it call for “strict socialism”?

I was talking to my dad while we were up on the boat this weekend; we’d had
a few Bloody Marys and so were pretty loosened up, and were discussing the
fact that it was Easter Sunday. (I knew there was *some* reason why it was
so quiet on channel 16 of the marine radio. But then, I’m a devout
motherfucker, as you guys know. I’m a meek sonofabitch, and I’m gonna
inherit the fuckin’ Earth!) He mentioned that one time, somebody who
worked for him came to work with a smudge of ash on his forehead. My dad
innocently told the guy that he had some kind of crud on his forehead, and
that he might want to go to the men’s room and wash it off. The guy,
rather shocked, replied that he had *ashes* on his forehead because it was
      Ash Wednesday.

My dad considered this for a moment, then expressed his hope that there was
no such thing as *Dog Shit* Wednesday.

This sort of thing happens when you flood the country with diversity trash and destroy the high-trust society of the nation’s legacy white population. In fact I suspect the increasing alienation of the shopping experience has contributed to the growth of both online shopping and home delivery and store pickups from local supermarkets. White people will pay a premium just to not have to stand in line with diversitarians.

In fact I suspect the increasing alienation of the shopping experience has contributed to the growth of both online shopping and home delivery and store pickups from local supermarkets. White people will pay a premium just to not have to stand in line with diversitarians.

Subconsciously, that is true, but the demoralization is so strong that most white people do not seem to be actively aware that “diversity” is a large part of, if not entirely the reason they’d rather stay home. Instead, they believe their “social anxiety” and “people suck” mentality is the result of their own biological disorders and misanthropy justified by some sort of inherent flaw that they assume can be found in all societies.

This is why I disagree with those who feel that if we simply restore a sense of community among white people that the “politics will come naturally” — we obviously have the lowest in-group preference of the races to have been so widely demoralized like this in the first place, so it’s pretty clear that we have to be ideological about our survival as a race.

There needs to be more focus on the importance of discipline, duty, vigilance, unwavering resolution and accurate knowledge.
How about it? Make yourself part of making the great push back happen!

Reprobate behaviour grew alongside the post-war consumerism and (already pozzed) mindsets, it was why the 1960s wave of social engineering worked so well and made many of the boomers the way they still are today.

Dissolution and apathy must be rejected. Both for the self-interest of the individual and in the struggle against the heinous evils of the Current Year.
